Party Smith
18 JUL

Party Smith

Party Smith. All restraints lifted and notions of ‘proper’ or ‘regular’ thrown to the wind in this hour of pure dancefloor adjacent musical expressionism. A punkish wandering through the unknown, with faint essences of folk instrumentalism, experimental drumwork, loose italo, downtempo balearia, such definitions are hard to pin. It’s music, drawn from somewhere personal and delivered in a singular fashion with bits from Yu Su, Cru Servers, and Jan Schulte. Tip.

Popmix
18 JUL

Popmix

Dance music! Popmix delivers on the screwtop essentials as a sort of perfect soundtrack to that mid-afternoon July haze. Primo cuts sat somewhere between the aspirational waft of Matthew Johnson offcuts and the cant-keep-one-eye-open screwiness of Wighnomy Bros. Deep minimal techno and jagged weirdo-house hybrids movements echoed from the concrete in a left-right rhythm. Includes bits from Point G, Cobblestone Jazz, and Herbert. Slick. Tip!

sketchbook w/ blană
sketchbook·18 JUL

sketchbook w/ blană

Blană’s sketchbook returns true to form. Ease-in-to-the-evening left-of-the-club type Romanian minimal. Stuff that comes in one ear, has a little dance around the pink matter of your mind, and slinks out the other ear with a wink. In the vein of Rhadoo and the greats, it's an hour of obscure cuts of hypnotic, screwed, stripped to the essentials type dance music. Big tip.

NACHTSCHADE Takeover·17 JUL

nachtschade w/ Eliott Litrowski

So begins the long nachtshade takeover with Eliot Litrowski taking reign on an hour of fidgety and raw electro-house hybrids. Primo cuts of android groovework charting a line somewhere between the essence of minimal weirdness, hedonic prog spirals, and discotheque-bass chargers. Like a sermons to smoky terraces at prime tweaking hour. Just wicked, wicked stuff from the likes of Ivan Smagghe, to Conrad Schnitzler, and Venetia. Tip!

Barbara Frey
11 JUL

Barbara Frey

Opening strong in the brass-ivory bliss of Hiroshi Suzuki’s seminal 1976 jazz-fusion ballad ‘マンス’ (Romance), Barbara Frey delivers something of refined excellence over two hours of Saturday afternoon wax. Charting the most foundational, human, yearning pieces of music from the previous century in an ode to fusion music's greatest byproducts from the likes of Herbie Hancock, George Cables, Patrice Rushen and so on. Just phenomenal. Tip.

courage fuyons
11 JUL

courage fuyons

An addictive melting pot of experi-lite sonic screw-rhythm from courage fuyons like a snake charm to that mid-July sunlight ambiance. Proper mixed methods of the city, channeling dub-meditations with analogue-ambience and pop-mashed electro/nica. Just a sick medley of tunes really, from Proc Fiskal, to Tornado Walla and Landstrumm. Tip tip tip.

Katalog w/ Civ
Katalog·11 JUL

Katalog w/ Civ

Civ’s Katalog returns in a delicate fusion of minimal intricacy and dub-wound atmospheres. Gentle threads drawn through skittering drums, low-slung groove, and woozy, almost drunken chords. It's a show as testament to musical coherence and subtle narrative touch including bits from Chris Carrier, Dub Taylor, and David Alvarado.

Enter the void w/ RunaRift (live)
10 JUL

Enter the void w/ RunaRift (live)

Akai-Push live wizardry from Runa Rift to mark the coming of those darker hours. The duo deliver an hour riding the line of deeply restrained progger-tek in the vein of the post-millenial heyday of northern European forest-trance methods. Psyched out, methodical, and winding in a progressive evolution - this one's a serious tip.

Mary Gehnyei
04 JUL

Mary Gehnyei

Outsider edge technicals from Mary Gehnyei on this ode to the dull grey of the sky. The city's edge collapsed into sonic form in a string of deep, stripped back zoner-house and minimal techno from the likes of Mike Grant, Terrence Parker, and Osunlade. Deep, querked, essential bits of foot-moving material. Tip!

Music Mind·04 JUL

Music Mind w/ Andy Martin & Andrea Passenger

Andy Martin’s Music Mind returns inviting Andrea Passenger on a two hour lilt through an array of spirited selections, funk, disco, soul, jazz, samba, descriptors of 20th and 21st century music so broad as to be redundant. It's the cosmic, the sensual, the essential recesses of the human spirit born out in song via Lucio Dalla, Tema due, Dee Edwards, and on and on. Requisite listening. Tip.

TS Kahuna
Beyond Titles·03 JUL

TS Kahuna

Spirited enchants from TS Kahuna on this Friday opening drawn from the cloudier recesses of his expansive library. Beginning with music as a living organism, dissolving in melancholic waves over sparse rhythms which crescendo into a kind of terminal and subdued-electro hedonia. Includes bits from Mammo, Lina Filipovich, rRoxymore, and on. Tip!
