DanzDas: The Institute for Getting Lost and Other Useful Mistakes (Please Do Not Ask for Directions — We Don’t Know Either) DanzDas is an experimental project from Emilia-Romagna, Italy, originally created by Mirko Bolzoni. What began as Mirko’s personal musical universe gradually evolved into something much more unpredictable with the arrival of Emil Savazzi. Emil didn’t simply join the project — his drumming, energy and musical instinct helped transform DanzDas into the restless, unpredictable duo it is today. Over the years, DanzDas has taken this music on the road across Europe, playing in places including London, Marseille, Berlin, Leipzig, Zurich, Ghent, Amsterdam and Milan. Travelling and playing in different places has become part of the project itself, constantly bringing new sounds, ideas and influences into the music. The DanzDas universe has never been built around a single genre. It comes from a collision of post-punk, electronic music, noise, art-rock, spoken word, avant-garde and everything that happens when completely different musical worlds meet. The journey goes from Kraftwerk, Neu! and Cabaret Voltaire to the raw energy of the Sex Pistols and Hüsker Dü, from the surreal world of The Residents to the madness of Frank Zappa, the cosmic explorations of Sun Ra, the art-punk of Pere Ubu, the industrial pulse of DAF, the experimental electronics of Autechre, the strange grooves of Arthur Russell, and — perhaps unexpectedly — the futuristic funk of Omar-S, the leftfield energy of Bambounou, Daft Punk and the explosive energy of The Prodigy. This eclecticism also exists in the instruments themselves. DanzDas started from guitars, bass and drums, but the musical palette has continuously expanded to include synthesizers, trumpet, violin, Indian flutes, tubular bells, harmonica and other unexpected instruments. And it probably won’t stop there — new sounds and instruments are always waiting to find their way into the project. For Radio Panini, DanzDas will turn this musical universe into a DJ set: not simply a selection of their own tracks, but a journey through the records, artists, sounds, obsessions and discoveries that have shaped them. Their own music will appear alongside the music that inspired it, creating unexpected connections between punk, krautrock, avant-garde, electronic music, noise, experimental sounds and rave culture. What makes the set special is that there is no fixed genre or strict direction. It is a musical map of DanzDas — where they come from, what they listen to, what makes them curious, and where they might be heading next. And this little Danish detour doesn’t stop in Copenhagen. On August 29, DanzDas will land in Copenhagen for Radio Panini, before drifting towards Aarhus on August 30 for Aarhus Festuge. There, they will play two completely different sets: first an electronic mixed set, followed by a special DanzDas duo band live performance.
