Popmix

Copenhagen dj and producer Popmix, has been around in the Copenhagen underground scene since the late 2000’s. He is running Axces Records alongside friends (Kasper Marott, Alfredo92, Martin Gilleshøj etc.) since 2019.

He has released a certain number of tracks and records on his own imprint, but he has also been putting out music on the Norwegian laben UTE under the moniker Wilberforce.

 

To in frame Popmix as an artist and a sound, he is exploring undergrounds genres in a characteristic manner. Being mostly influenced and inspired by a broad range genres and subgenres within the realms of techno, trance, house, IDM and more experimental music he is using strong caricatures of those and often melodies to communicate his typically naïve expression of club music. Mostly building his tracks in a conventional compositional way, there is a multifunctionality inscribed in the music, since it is indented to flourish not only in a club context, but also in more conventional settings.

 

As a dj the same connotations are relevant to mention, as above. Though being sometimes more uncompromised in his selection, he generally presents a wide range of genres that makes him able to create a strong narrative that goes beyond the strict and conventionel idea of djing. Mixing genres and selection eclectically is an expression of his general passion and love for music, believing it shouldn’t be limited.
